2G scam: Raja aide Sadiq Basha found hanging in Chennai residence

CHENNAI: Former telecom minister A Raja's aide and realtor Sadiq Basha was found dead, hanging, at his residence in Chennai on Wednesday. CBI had questioned Basha in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. 

Police sources said Basha might have committed suicide. Apollo Hospitals, where he was rushed to, confirmed that he was brought dead. 

Sadiq Basha was managing director of real estate firm Green House Promoters. Raja's relatives have stakes in Green House promoters.

Former telecom A Raja's key aide Sadiq Batcha committed suicide today by hanging himself. His body has been taken to Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

Batcha was the MD of Greenhopuse Promoters. It was Chennai-based flagship company of A Raja. Raja's wife Parmeshwari was the Director of this company, but she later quit after the scam surfaced.

Batcha's Chennai-based export house is believed to have been a means of funds that were paid as kickbacks in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. A host of other Raja aides are under the CBI scanner and may also be grilled.

The CBI had earlier raided the premises of Green House Promoters and questioned Batcha in December 2010.

CHENNAI: Ex-telecom minister A Raja's close aide Sadiq Batcha committed suicide in Chennai on Wednesday, reports CNN-IBN.

Batcha was the Managing Director of Greenhouse Promoters, alleged to be a front company for Raja.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had questioned him in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. Raja's wife was a director in Greenhouse Promoters.
